Philadelphia, Pa. - Duquesne women's rowing team advanced to the semifinals in their sole event on Friday's first day of competition of the Dad Vail Regatta on Philadelphia's Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park.

DU's women's frosh / novice heavyweight 8 finished second behind Saint Joseph's in their preliminary heat with a time of 7:13.6 which enabled the Dukes to advance to the semifinals in this event. DU cut that time by ten seconds to 7:03.8 but was only able to finish fourth in their semifinal heat.
