PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne rowing team faced off with crosstown foe Pittsburgh in a scrimmage on Saturday morning on the Allegheny River.
The Dukes had two eights, three fours and two singles battle one Panther eight, a four and a single in the exhibition tilt.
The two squads completed 10-minute pieces together in each of the categories, with Duquesne maintaining mixed lineups for the scrimmage.
First-year head coach Jenn Langzettel noted maintaining the Dukes' technical work with some added competition as Duquesne's main focus at the scrimmage.
"While we did well maintaining those aspects, the coaches identified other areas the team needs to improve upon as we move forward this season," Langzettel said. "We have made gains in the four short weeks we have been at it and we look forward to the gains we will have over the rest of our fall season."
The Dukes have another tune-up on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Morgantown, W.V. where Duquesne will take on West Virginia and Dayton.
The Dukes officially open the 2017-18 campaign at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday, Oct. 28 in Philadelphia.
