PITTSBURGH - The College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) recently announced its 2018 National Scholar-Athlete Awards, with ten Duquesne rowers garnering National Scholar-Athlete honors.
Mary Katherine Bryne (Dunwoody, Ga./Marist), Mary Clay (Radnor, Pa./Archbishop John Carroll), Maggie Cunningham (Garnet Valley, Pa./Padua Academy), Samantha Dunn (Lake City, Pa./Girard), Jessica Goldstein (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny), Rachel Kaup (Fort Recovery, Ohio/Fort Recovery), Lauren Murray (Orchard Park, N.Y./Nardin Academy), Meredith O'Neil (Wexford, Pa./Pine-Richland), Amanda Pellegrino (Yardley, Pa./Nazareth Academy)and Brittney Raible (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) all earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors.
To be considered as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete, the student-athlete must have recorded a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career, must have been in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility, and she must have rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75 percent of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
The Dukes landed the most spots among Atlantic 10 teams on the National Scholar-Athlete list followed by Fordham and Rhode Island with eight as well as Dayton and Massachusetts with seven.
