PITTSBURGH - September 18-19, 2009 the women's rowing program will be hosting its 3rd annual recruit weekend. This event gives prospective student-athletes the opportunity to visit the beautiful campus and experience the life of a student-athlete at Duquesne.
When you arrive on campus you will meet with a host rower that you will shadow for the day and sit in on classes with; these classes can be in your major of interest or general liberal arts classes. You will then join with the rest of the recruits and the women's team for an evening activity to allow you the opportunity to get to know the rowers and if you feel it is a team where you can succeed. After spending the evening in the residence halls with your host you will attend and view a varsity practice on the beautiful Allegheny River. You will receive a tour of the boathouse facilities and learn more about the background of rowing in Pittsburgh. While on the water you will see the competitive nature of the team, how practices are coordinated and run, and the style of coaching you would experience as a Duke.
While on your visit you will also have the opportunity to meet with the coaching staff. This will enable you time to ask questions, get to know the coaches, and learn more about your opportunities as a rower or coxswain at Duquesne University.
All of the necessary paperwork must be submitted to Coach Jenn Langzettel before you will be considered for the recruit weekend. Spaces are limited and recruits will be chosen at the coach's discretion.
