Duquesne Rowing Signs Five Rowers to Class of 2017

Duquesne rowing coach Joe Setting announced the signing of five athletes for the incoming class of 2017. "We are excited to welcome a very talented group of rowers to the Duquesne family," said Coach Setting. "Each rower has found many successes in their high school rowing tenures, and I believe each of them has the ability to make an immediate impact on our team next year."
Michaela Beucler (5'10", Andover, MA, Andover High School) just entered her second year of rowing at Essex Rowing under Coach Travis Gardner. As a novice Michaela had many first place finishes and was a semi-finalist in the novice four at the 2012 Northeast District Championships. Her most recent accomplishment was a third place finish in the women's junior 4x at the 2012 Merrimack Chase in November. Michaela is an honors student at Andover High School and has been accepted in the Palumbo School of Business at Duquesne. She is one of 5 children and the daughter of Karen and Mark Beucler.
Kaitlyn Clem (5'8", Pittsburgh, PA, North Allegheny High School) is an accomplished sculler for NA and was a bronze medalist in the varsity 4x at the 2012 Midwest Scholastic Championships. As a senior captain Kaitlyn leads her team both on and off the water. She was recognized by the North Allegheny athletic department as a scholar athlete and was also awarded the Marie Martin Memorial Award by the Ligonier Valley Writers for poetry. The daughter of Michael and Tina Clem, Kaitlyn will major in Psychology at Duquesne.
Alison Kane (5'9", Drexel Hill, PA, Merion Mercy Academy) will come to Duquesne after having rowed for her high school for four years. Alison has had a very successful high school career under coach Michael Brown which includes a 5th place finish at the Stotesbury Cup in the JV8+, 13th place (out of 85 entries) at the 2012 Head of the Charles Regatta in the youth 8+, as well as a first place finish in the varsity 8+ at the 2012 Navy Day Regatta. The daughter of Kevin and Jane Kane, Alison is an accomplished student as well. She is a member of National Honor Society and will enter Duquesne's School of Business in the fall.
Mary Kate Keenoy (5'8", St. Louis, MO, Nerinx Hall High School) currently rows for Tim Franck at the St. Louis Rowing Club. She received many medals throughout the 2011-12 season including a gold at the Midwest Junior Regional Championships. Another academically solid addition to the roster, Mary Kate is the vice president of the academic team, a member of National Honor Society, and has received academic honors every season. The daughter of Justin and Christene Keenoy, Mary Kate will major in International Business while at Duquesne.
Kaitlyn McConville (5'6", Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield Memorial High School) currently rows under coach Tim Hagan for Haddonfield. Kaitlyn is in her second year as team captain and has earned 4 varsity letters in her tenure of rowing. Also very involved outside of rowing Kaitlyn is in National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society, is a peer leader and member of S.T.A.N.D. Club, while also volunteering as a ski instructor for an adaptive ski program and at Rehab Connection. The daughter of Holly and Jim McConville, Kaitlyn will major in Physical Therapy while at Duquesne.
