Box Score

LORETTO, Pa. - Tesa McKibbon scored a pair of goals and Barb Maros de Carvalho added three assists as Saint Francis, Pa. defeated the Duquesne women's soccer team 3-1 in the season opener.

Meghan Long scored the lone Duquesne goal.

Maros de Carvalho found an open McKibbon at the 14:49 mark of the first half on a cross to get the Red Flash on the board. The duo connected once again, 10 minutes later to give SFU a 2-0 advantage, which they took into halftime

Haileigh Dunyon increased the Saint Francis, Pa. lead to 3-0 seven minutes into the second half on a feed from Maros de Carvalho.

Duquesne had several chances to get on the board as Lauren Ott's shot from 10 yards out hit the crossbar. Ott also was stopped on a kick save by SFU keeper Brianna Butcher. She finished with four shots on the day.

Long's goal in the 83rd minute came off a corner kick from Paige Maroney and a helper from Paige Langhals making the score 3-1, but that would be DU's only score of the match.

Keeper Gabby Morrin made three saves in the loss.

Next up for Duquesne will be Robert Morris on Sunday afternoon. The Dukes will make the 17-mile trip to Moon Township, Pa. to battle their cross-town rivals at 1:00 p.m. at the North Athletic Complex.
