Women's Soccer Earns First Win of Season After 2-1 Victory Over Niagara

PITTSBURGH - Paige Maroney's goal off a Morgan Herbert assist broke a 1-1 tie in the 55th minute to give Al Alvine his first win as the Dukes' head coach after a 2-1 victory over Niagara on Friday night at Rooney Field.
The Purple Eagles (0-2-0) got on the board first after Danielle Kennedy took a Mari Siegrist-Gabas pass and found the back of the net in the 31st minute.
Duquesne answered eight minutes later when Herbert scored her second of the year off an assist from Maroney.
Devon Tabata made three saves for the Dukes who held NU to just six total shots. DU fired 15 shot at Niagara keeper Claire Feietag who made six saves. Herbert recorded a match-best seven shots (four on goal).
The next match for the Dukes is Sunday afternoon when they visit cross-town rival Robert Morris. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
