Buffalo, N.Y. - Duquesne University's women's soccer team shut out Canisius College 1-0 Friday night at the Griffs' Demske Sports Complex. Senior Lauren Bracco tallied her fourth goal of the season when she headed in junior Caitlin Holmes' indirect kick for the game's only marker at 69:51 of the second half. Freshman Rachel Gecik recorded six saves for the second shutout of her short Duquesne career.

The Dukes out-shot Canisius 17-10 and improved to 3-2-1 overall. Bracco leads the Dukes in scoring with nine points and has a 40 percent shooting accuracy, hitting four of her team-best 10 shots on goal.

Canisius freshman keeper Jenna Gage, in her collegiate debut, posted three saves in the MAAC school's home-opener. The Griffs are now 0-3.

The Dukes remain in northwest New York for a Sunday contest with the Niagara Purple Eagles (2-3) on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Niagara Field.
