Duquesne women's soccer (5-3-1, 1-0-0) captured a 3-1 victory in the Atlantic 10 season opener over St. Bonaventure (2-7-0, 0-1-0) Friday night at Rooney Field.

Sophomore Jennifer LaCava (Novelty, Ohio/West Geauga) scored her first collegiate goal in the 13th minute rebounding a post shot to give the Dukes a 1-0 edge. Senior Lauren Bracco (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills West) netted her fifth game-winning score unassisted in the 58th minute for a 2-0 Duquesne edge.

Erica Carey scored off of LaCava's feed in the 59th minute to give Duquesne 3-0 margin in the second frame. St. Bonaventure's Heather MacDougall hit the Bonnies' lone score in the 71st minute for the 3-1 final.

Freshman Virginia Bondi (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) recorded three saves on six shots for the win.

Duquesne out-shot the Bonnies 19 to six for the contest.

The Dukes return to action this Sunday as they host Pitt in a 7:00 pm bout on Rooney Field. It's Youth Night ... all club, youth and high school teams are invited out to cheer on the Dukes in a great cross-town rivalry.
