Women's Soccer Falls Short at Xavier

The Duquesne women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss at Xavier Friday night in an Atlantic 10 match in Cincinnati. Down 0-1 at the half, the Dukes out-shot the Musketeers 12-9 in the second half but couldn't find the back of the net. Keeper Virginia Bondi racked up seven saves in the loss.
The Dukes were out-shot 7-2 in the first frame, but allowed just one score as Meredith Frendt put the host up at 31:33. It was the game's only goal.
Audra Mathews took a team-best five shots, two of which were on goal. Andrea Graber grabbed six saves for Xavier.
The Dukes return to play as the travel to Dayton for the second of six road matches this Sunday.
