Women's Soccer Falls to Temple in Double Overtime 1-0

PITTSBURGH - Temple's Paige Rachel took a header off Jourdan Brill's free kick in the 105th minute to lead the Owls over the Duquesne women's soccer team 1-0 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field. TU's Shauni Kerkhoff made nine saves while DU's Devon Tabata stopped eight. The Dukes (4-8-2, 0-3-1 A-10), who outshot the Owls 25-14, were not without their scoring chances. In the 22nd minute when a Morgan Herbert was just wide on the left side. In the 57th minute, a Kerkhoff made a jumping save off a Kahli Hale shot. Two minutes later Paige Maroney, who finished with a match-high nine shots, beat a pair of defenders on the left side, but her shot went wide. In the 68th minute, Caroline Lacy's shot was kicked out by a Temple defender in the crease. The Dukes end their three-match homestand on Friday night when they host St. Bonaventure (5-8-1, 2-2-0 A-10) on Friday night. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
