The Dukes' women's soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss to visiting George Washington Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field. Senior Maureen Moran had a solid shot blocked by the Colonials defense with :20 ticking in the first frame, denying the opportunity to tie before Ashley Squires found the back of the net with :03 remaining just out of Rachel Gecik's reach for a 2-0 GW lead at the half.
The Dukes come out dominating the first part of the second half as Carey slammed in the Dukes' goal into the lower left hand corner for the 1-2 reach. Colonial keeper Anna Handzlik posted four saves in the second frame.
