Final Stats

Philadelphia, Pa. -- Duquesne's women's soccer team was shut out at Saint Joseph's, 1-0, Friday evening on a cold, wet Friday night on the Hawks' Finnesey Field.

The Hawks (5-6-1, 3-3-0 A-10) controlled the first half during which Michelle Ford scored the game-winner in the 26th minute. But after the break, Duquesne (6-7-2, 2-3-1) owned the second half about as much as SJU owned the first. The Dukes fired eight shots to the Hawks three, including two that had more than a good chance of finding the back of the net. One shot caromed off the bottom of the crossbar, hitting goalie Nicole DiEnna in the process and nearly advancing past the goal line. Another was a 40-yard free kick that skidded on one-hop and almost bounced over DiEnna's head, who recorded three saves in the match.

Freshman Rachel Gecik recorded eight saves on the day to pace the Dukes. SJU held a 16-10 advantage in shots. DU had two corner kicks to the Hawks' one.

The Red and Blue return to action on Sunday as they travel to Temple for a 1:00 pm game.
