CINCINNATI - Shaina Geisler's penalty shot in the 77th minute broke a 1-1 tie and Mackenzie Creehan added her first career goal less than two minutes later as the Duquesne women's soccer team defeated Xavier 3-1 Friday night.

Annie Reid scored the Dukes' first goal in the 14th minute. The Musketeers answered when Carlyanne Wenzel rebounded a Kaitlyn McGoldrick shot past DU keeper Brittany Findley.

The teams went into the half tied at 1-1, until a XU handball led to Geisler's penalty shot.

"This was a huge win on the road for us," said head coach Tim Zundel. "I am very pleased with our performance tonight. This may have been the best match we played this season."

DU has a tough match ahead of them on Sunday afternoon as they visit 10-4-1, 4-1-1 Dayton.
