Duquesne suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to visiting Massachusetts Friday evening on Rooney Field, despite a solid overall effort from the Dukes. Senior Kristin Scharphorn posted 11 saves on 15 shots in goal to lead Duquesne.

The Dukes took seven shots to UMass' four in the first peried, but neither team could capitalize the effort as the teams saw a scoreless first half. Duquesne's Katie Schwager put the Dukes up 1-0 as she connected on her third of three penalty kicks on the season in the 71:40 mark. Lindsay Bellini knotted the score with a break-away goal at 84:31 before being award the penalty kick attempt at 88:33 that resulted in the game-winner.

Duquesne closes out the home season this Sunday, Oct. 20, as they host Rhode Island on Senior Day.
