Duquesne University women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to visiting Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field, despite holding a 19-9 edge on shots. The Red & Blue saw three scoring opportunities slip away. Nicole Nanchoff had a ball hit off the post in the first frame while Katie Schwager had a post-shot in the second period followed by a header that hit the cross bar by Erica Carey.

The Dukes also held a 7-2 edge on corner kicks. It was a pretty physical contest in a battle to better the team's chances on a shot in the sis team A-10 tournament. The Hawks led the game with 14 fouls while the Dukes were whistled for 12.

The Hawks' Cristin Harris notched the game-winner in the 40th minute from Jess Daugherty. SJU also hit a wide shot on an empty net as keeper Virginia Bondi charged the ball out of the box in the second stanza.

Rachel Gecik started in goal for the Dukes and recorded one save while Virginia Bondi posted two saves in the second frame.

The Dukes dropped to 8-9-1 (3-5-1) while Saint Joseph's upped it's record to 6-10-1 (4-4-1).

Duquesne closes out the regular season next weekend hosting Rhode Island on Friday and UMass on Sunday for Senior Day.
