Senior Cydney Staton scored twice -- including the game-winner with four seconds remaining in the second overtime to lead Duquesne to a 2-1 victory over La Salle on Senior Day on Sunday at Rooney Field.

With the victory, the Dukes finish the regular season 11-5-3 and 7-2-1

La Salle had the first scoring opportunity of the contest in the 23rd minute when Marks took a touch pass from 20 yards out, but her shot was deflected out of bounds by a diving Murphy on the right side. La Salle had another chance to score in the 31st minute when Bower found Kirsch-Downs from 20 yards away, but her blast went high right.

After La Salle's Paige McDowell was issued a red card in the 35th minute for tripping Duquesne's Katie O'Connor from behind on a breakaway, Malea Fabean's penalty shot was wide left. The Dukes kept the pressure up and in the 43rd minute O'Connor's shot was stopped from point blank range, keeping the match scoreless heading into halftime.

Cydney Staton got the Dukes on the board in the 51st minute, when she took advantage of a La Salle ball that was misplayed. Staton took possession from 20 yards away and dribbled into the crease, beating Zambelli on the right side.

Duquesne had a chance to put space between them and La Salle in the 65th minute when a Staton cross found a streaking A.J. Baroffio, but her header hit off the right post. Less than a minute later, Dani Wenger's goal was waived off due to an offsides infraction. On the ensuing possession, La Salle's Maci Bower had a breakaway, but was stopped by Murphy from close range.

Maci Bower had a second chance, but her shot in the 75th minute was pushed wide right. However, she was able to get redemption in the 86th minute when her header off a Marks corner kick found the back of the net, sending the match into overtime.

Both teams had chances late in the overtime sessions -- La Salle's Marykate Bateman tip off a free kick was saved by Murphy in the 106th minute and Staton's breakaway heading the other way was just wide.

The match was won when Staton took a feed from Ashley Gault, slipped behind La Salle's defense and put the ball past Zambelli for the victory.

COACH ALVINE QUOTE: "It's great to get one last win before we head off to the A-10 Tournament, especially on a day like today when we are celebrating our seniors. To get the win for them, and have them be the ones to get it done, it was something special. We're looking forward to the next game and the next part of the season, and we're happy for the seniors to get the win on senior day."

UP NEXT: The Dukes look to defend their Atlantic 10 Conference championship. They will be a #3 seed and will face #6 seed George Washington (10-6-3, 4-3-3) on Thursday at 2:00 PM.
