SAN DIEGO - Duquesne women's soccer standout goalie Devon Tabata has been elected to serve as a vice chair for the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Tabata was voted into the position on Saturday at the NCAA Convention.

The SAAC serves as the student-athlete representation arm of the NCAA, giving student-athletes a voice in the association's governance stucture. The Division I national SAAC is made up of a representative from each conference. A junior, Tabata seves as the Atlantic 10 Conference's representative on the Division I SAAC, a position she was selected for in July. She is one of Duquesne's representatives on the Atlantic 10 Conference SAAC.

A Columbus, Ohio, native, Tabata was also recently selected to represent the Atlantic 10 Conference as a member of the prestigious NCAA Division I Academic Cabinet. She is the first member of the Atlantic 10 to serve on the Academic Cabinet since former La Salle Faculty Athletic Representative Dr. Annette O’Connor. Tabata also is the first A-10 student-athlete to serve on an NCAA Cabinet in over five years.

She joins new SAAC Chair Kendall Spencer from the Mountiain West Conference and vice chair Dusty Page from the Mid-American Conference as the group's newly chosen leadership.
