Dec. 9, 2017

PITTSBURGH - Head coach Al Alvine has announced that associate head coach Brian Shrum and assistant coach Ashley Magruda have accepted head coaching position.

Shrum has been named head coach at Youngstown State and Magruda at Dean College.

“I couldn’t be more excited for Brian as he enters this new chapter in his coaching career," said Alvine. "He’s had a huge impact on our program and our success on and off the field. It’s always sad to see people you’ve worked with closely move on, but this is a fantastic opportunity for Brian. We’ll all miss him as a colleague and as a friend in the Duquesne community. I’m looking forward to seeing Youngstown State become a force in the Horizon League in the very near future.”

“As someone who has known Ashley as both a student-athlete and as an assistant, I can say this is a great moment for her to manage her own program. I’m sure she will make the most of this opportunity as Dean College continues it’s transition to the Division 3 level. Her passion, work ethic and knowledge of the game will serve her well as she embarks on this next challenge in her coaching journey.”
