Duquesne Defeats Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day, 158-95

The swimming team won 13 of 14 races en route to a 158-95 win over visiting Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Towers Pool. The Dukes improve to 7-3 on the season in dual meets.
The Dukes open the contest by finishing first and second in the 400 medley relay to take an early 15-2 lead which they would not relinquish.
Gabrielle Werner followed by winning the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:53.99 before Kane won the 200 free in1:57.49.
Event four saw Lexi Santer win the 100 backstroke in 59.32, then Lilly Nelson captured first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.57. Dickman then won the 200 butterfly in 2:10.01 and Ray won the 50 free in 24.29 before the intermission.
Following the break, Ray then set a Towers Pool record with a time of 52.49 in the 100 free, Santer won the 200 backstroke in 2:07.60, Morgan Fink won the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.37 and Nobles won the 500 free in 5:25.33.
Mount St. Mary's captured first in the 100 butterfly right before the second break, but DU's Molly O'Brien finished second in 1:02.97 and Czachowski placed third in 1:03.25.
The meet ended with Dickman taking first in the 400 IM and the Dukes placing first and second in the 200 free relay.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Jan. 22 as they face Xavier and Ohio U. at 5:00 pm in the home finale at Towers Pool.
