Dukes Swim Past Mount St. Mary's, 152-100 on Senior Day

Duquesne's women's swimming team won 13 of 14 races en route to a 152-100 victory over visiting Mount St. Mary's Saturday afternoon at Towers Pool.

It was senior day on The Bluff and the seniors came through in a big way, winning four of the 12 individual races and having the majority of the competitors in the two winning relays.

Erin Cawley took first in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.84, followed by fellow senior Katy Hare in second in 25.03. Cawley also won the 100 free in 54.37, followed by senior Kristi Magee in second in 54.67 and Hare in fourth in 55.60.

Senior Hannah Kondrotas won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 18:07.52 and senior Morgan Claycomb won the 100 backstroke in 1:00.38.

Claycomb, Cawley, Hare and junior Hillary Hocson combined to win the 200 medley relay in 1:49.58 while Cawley, Magee, Hare and sophomore Meghan Smith took first in the 400 free relay in 3:41.59.

Other winners for the Dukes were Smith who won the 200 butterfly in 2:11.62 and the 100 fly in 1:00.06, junior Miriam McGeath who captured first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.85 and in the 200 breast in 2:30.97, freshman Line Lovberg who took first in the 200 back in 2:10.05 and the 200 IM in 2:11.66 and junior Christine Rosebaugh who won the 500 freestyle in 5:19.52.

The Dukes return to action next Saturday, Jan. 28 as they host Clarion at 1:00 pm at Towers Pool in the final home meet of the season.
