Dukes Down The Mount, 149-100 on Senior Day

Duquesne's swimming team captured first, second and third place in the opening 200-yard medley relay and never looked back in taking a 149-100 win over visiting Mount St. Mary's Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Towers Pool. The Dukes won 12 of 14 races and set two Towers Pool records as well.

Taylor Kane won the first individual race, taking the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 11:19.71. Nicole Bruneel followed by winning the 200 free with a time of 1:57.78. DU went 1-2-3 in the event as well.

Two of the three seniors who were honored won the next two events with Miriam McGeath winning the 100 backstroke in 1:02.62 and Meghan Smith taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.05.

The Mount then won the 200 butterfly by 0.09 before Samantha Ray captured the first of her two win, capturing first in the 50 free in 24.45. That was followed by Smith winning the 100 free in 53.83, Hallie McCue winning the 200 back in 2:11.41 and McGeath winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.56.

The Mountaineers were victorious in the 500 free before the Red and Blue won the final three races. Ray took the 100 butterfly in 59.28, Smith won the 200 IM in 2:10.02 and the 400 free relay won in 3:35.25.

Next up for the Dukes is the season-ending Atlantic 10 Championship which takes place Feb. 19-22 in Geneva, Ohio.
