Dukes Complete First Day Of A-10 Championships

Buffalo, N.Y. - Duquesne University's women's swimming team finished the first day of competition of the Atlantic 10 Conference Swimming & Diving Championships at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in sixth place. The Dukes do not compete in the diving events. Duquesne, which saw two school records set in Thursday's preliminaries by freshman Liz Yager (Strongsville, Ohio / Strongsville) in the 500 yard freestyle race and by the 200 yard freestyle relay team, accumulated 89 points. The Dukes competed in four of the five swimming races placing three athletes in each of the two individuals events. The 200 yard freestyle team provided DU's best mark by grabbing fourth place tonight. The second day of this three-day competition gets underway at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 20th with another round of preliminary events.
