Atlantic 10 Championship - Day One Preliminaries

The women's swimming team got off to a fast start at the Atlantic 10 Championship, setting four school records in the first of six sessions. The Dukes set school records in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 500-yard freestyle, the 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley relay.

The 200 free relay team of freshman Elizabeth Barba, sophomore Laura Kephart, junior Stacey Porter and sophomore Deidre Rodeheaver started things off by finishing fourth in 1:37.29. Freshman Amy Gersbach then placed seventh in the 500 free in 5:06.36, followed by Rodeheaver's 10th place time of 24.51 in the 50 free. The morning session was capped off by a second place finish in 3:56.07 by the 400 medley relay team of junior Alicia Smith, freshman Jillian Rupinski, Kephart and Barba.

Both individuals and teams will compete in the finals this evening.
