Dukes Climb into Third Place at A-10 Championship

Duquesne's women's swimming team climbed from seventh to third place after the day two finals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. Seniors Liz Yager and Melissa Johnson set school records to help propel the Dukes.
Yager led the evening off on a good note, placing third and improving her own school record in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.53. Johnson followed in the next race, placing second and topping her school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.52. Sophomore Katrina Streiner continued DU's streak of medals, capturing silver in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.88.
The evening ended on a high note as well as the 200 freestyle relay team of Johnson, Streiner and juniors Lauren Stephens and Sarah Schnieber took second place with a school record time of 1:35.53.
Day three action begins Friday at 10:30 am with time trials in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke.
