Lady Swimmers Open Season With Loss to Akron

Duquesne's women's swimming team opened its 2012-13 season with a 158-104 loss to visiting Akron Friday evening at Towers Pool. Line Lovberg set a pool record by winning the 200-yard butterfly in a Towers Pool record time of 2:04.72.
Lovberg was the second of five Duquesne winners on the day, followed by fellow sophomore Jamie Ruh who won the 1,000 freestyle in 10:42.35 and preceeding freshmen Samantha Ray (24.89 in the 50 free), Claire Nobles (53.65 in the 100 free) and Kylie Dickman (5:12.01 in the 500 free).
The Dukes return to action on Saturday, October 27 as they travel to New Britain, Conn. to face host Central Connecticut State and St. Francis (Pa.) in the second annual breast cancer awareness meet between the three teams.
