FINAL: Duquesne 163.5, Youngstown State 130.5

QUICK RECAP: Duquesne swimming improved its record to 6-1 with a 163.5-130.5 win at Youngstown State Saturday afternoon.
The Dukes opened the meet with top two finishes in the 200-yard medley relay for the first event. The relay team of Abby Watson, Abigail Stauffer, Kristen McKnight and Kayla Owens finished first with a time of 1:49.02. Following was the team of Hallie McCue, Lilly Nelson, Emily Thirion and Michelle Heim, finishing in 1:50.45.
In the 100-yard backstroke Duquesne had top three finishes from Watson (58.63), Sydnee Karam (1:00.01) and McCue (1:00.31).
Owens (1:06.45) took first for the Dukes in the 100-yard breaststroke, with Kirsten Hillsley (1:08.07), Morgan Fink (1:09.57) and Nelson (1:10.40) following.
The Dukes found another first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with Thirion finishing in 25:05.
In the next event, Smith took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.75.
The top three finishers in the 200-yard breaststroke were Hillsley (2:26.86), Fink (2:30.05) and Lauren Devorace (2:31.31).
Owens (58.14) and McKnight (59.48) went on to take first and second place for the Dukes in the 100-yard butterfly.
In the final event, the 200-yard freestyle relay team of McKnight, Smith, Thirion and Owens, placed first with a time of 1:39.07.
COACH SHEETS QUOTE: "I was very pleased with how the ladies swam today. Coming off one of the toughest weeks of training thus far, they all had great attitudes and got up and raced each event. We are in a good place training-wise and will continue to prepare one practice, one day at a time."
