Dukes Face Atlantic 10 Foes La Salle and St. Bona. in Buffalo

The swimming team continued its weekend trip in Buffalo on Saturday by facing Atlantic 10 foes St. Bonaventure and La Salle in a tri-meet at a neutral site. Freshman Meghan Smith captured two more first place finishes.

The Dukes fell to St. Bonaventure, 166-129 and lost to La Salle, 163-133, but had four relays and four individuals set team season-best times.

Smith secured first place in the 200-yard butterfly, winning by six seconds with a time of 2:07.49. She also grabbed first in the 100 fly with a DU season-best time of 58.57 and finished second in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.19.

Sophomore Miriam McGeath placed second in the 200 IM in 2:10.89 and turned in team season-best times in the 200 breaststroke in 2:25.30 and the 100 breast in 1:07.97, placing third in both events.

Junior Hannah Kondrotas set the team standard in the 1,650 free, placing third in 18:07.58, while fellow junior Morgan Claycomb turned in a second place showing in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.24.

The DU relays all set new top times led by the 400 medley in second place in 3:56.83 and the 400 free in 3:40.51.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, Nov. 12 for their home opener, hosting Akron at 5:00 p.m. at Towers Pool.
