Red and Blue Keep Pace on Second Day of CSU Invitational

Duquesne's swimming team remained in fifth place of six teams after day two action of Saturday's three-day Cleveland State Invitational. Line Lovberg captured the Dukes' first victory of the meet by taking first by nearly 10 seconds in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:21.99, good for 24 team points.
Close behind Lovberg in third place with 20 team points was Jamie Ruh with a time of 4:32.40. Kylie Dickman captured 14 team point with a ninth place finish in 4:37.71. Grace Creighton (14th in 4:45.46) and Laura Mathews (20th in 4:56.84) also scored for the Dukes.
In the 100-butterfly, Samatha Ray finished 14th of 38 swimmers in 58.85 with Meghan Smith right behind her in 15th in 59.93.
The Dukes had seven swimmers score points in the 100 breaststroke, led by Hillary Hocson in ninth place of 23 swimmers with a time of 1:09.14 which was good for 14 team points. She was followed by Christine Rosebaugh, Kylie Dickman, Vanessa Rohm, Caitlin Zajko, Alli Jerman and Morgan Schmidt who combined for 35 team points.
In relay action, Duquesne placed fifth of 12 teams in the 800 free relay and 10th of 20 in the 200 medley relay.
The third and final day of action is scheduled for Sunday.
