Dukes Take Fourth at Cleveland State Invitational

Duquesne's swimming team captured two first place finishes, a second and two thirds in placing fourth at the Cleveland State Invitational on Sunday.

Line Lovberg finished first in the 200-yard backstroke with a meet record time of 2:01.90, winning by nearly two seconds while Miriam McGeath won the 200 breaststroke in a meet record time of 2:16.79 to lead the Dukes.

Samantha Ray had a second and third place showing, finishing runner-up in the 100 freestyle in 51.44 and third in the 50 fly in 26.51. The other DU second place finish came in the 400 free relay as Ray, Meghan Smith, Molly O'Brien and Claire Nobles placed number two in 3:28.57.

Morgan Fink (200 back), Claire Nobles (100 free) and Grace Creighton (200 butterfly) all had fourth place showings as well.

Four individuals will participate in the U.S. National Championships Dec. 5-7 in Knoxville, Tenn. while the rest of the team will return to action after Christmas as the team travels to Pompano Beach, Fla. for its winter training trip.
