Seven Dukes Qualify for Finals on Day Two of Akron Invite

Seven Dukes qualified for finals and earned team points in Saturday's day two of three action at the Akron Invitational.

Line Lovberg had the best DU finish of the evening, placing fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a school record time of 56.30 in the 100-yard butterfly. Morgan Claycomb also turned in a high finish with a sixth place showing in the 100 backstroke with a Duquesne season-best time of 57.39.

Two Dukes scored points in the 400 IM as Jamie Ruh placed 18th in 4:35.63 and Hannah Kondrotas finished 21st in 4:39.80.

Also scoring in the 100 fly was Erin Cawley who took 15th place in 58.21, Kristi Magee was 22nd in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.35 and Hillary Hocson took 20th in the 100 breaststroke in a DU season-best time of 1:07.56.

The 200 medley relay also turned in a stellar performance with a ninth place finish of 28 teams with a time of 1:47.50.

Down in Atlanta, Miriam McGeath and Meghan Smith turned in impressive performances at the U.S. Nationals as McGeath finished 33rd of 88 swimmers in the 200-meter breaststoke and Smith placed 65th of 85 in the 200 butterfly.

Both Dukes will join the rest of their team Sunday for the final day of action at the Zippy Invite.
