Coach Sheets Inks Four for 2002-2003 Season

First Year women's swimming coach David Sheets announced the signing of four swimmers to National Letters of Intent for the 2002-2003 season. Elizabeth Barba (Meadville, PA/Meadville), Sarah Breisinger (Springdale, PA/Springdale), Amy Gersbach (Tabernacle, NJ/Shawnee) and Erin McEvoy (Campbell Hall, NY/Washingtonville) are the newest Dukes.
Barba was a four-time letterwinner and senior year team captain. She holds school records in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 freestyle relay and was a three-time Tri County Athletic Conference Most Valuable Swimmer. She was also named All State Honorable Mention as her school won four TCAC championships.
Breisinger was a four-year letterwinner at Springdale High. She was a Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League qualifier all four years and was a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association qualifier as a sophomore, junior and senior.
Gersbach was a four-year letterwinner and senior year team captain for her district championship team. She is a state champion and state record holder in the 400-yard freestyle relay and also placed sixth in the state championship 500 freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle. Gersbach was named to the All-County, All-Conference and All-State All Star teams as a senior.
McEvoy was a four-time letterwinner and two-time team captain for her section and county championship team which posted a 38-0 record over a three-year span. She is her school's record holder in the 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle relay and medley relay events. She is also the record holder in four events at the Viking Aquatic Club.
The foursome will join fellow freshman Jillian Rupinski who signed with the Dukes during the early signing period in November.
