NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After turning in another strong performance this past weekend at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Classic, Duquesne freshman swimmer Emma Brinton (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
She finished with three event wins on the weekend, pacing the the 200-yard IM (2:06.77), the 400-yard IM (4:29.79) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.61). She also topped Saint Louis, George Mason and La Salle in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.41.
In addition, Brinton was part of the Dukes' 400-yard medley relay team which posted a time of 3:52.24 to defeat George Mason, La Salle and St. Louis in the event.
Brinton becomes the seventh swimmer in program history to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week more than once. Katrina Streiner (2005) is the only Dukes swimmer to garner A-10 Rookie of the Week accolades three times.
Duquesne is back in action this weekend, as the divers compete at Youngstown State on Friday, Nov. 3 beginning at 5 p.m. ET before the Dukes swimmers host the Penguins on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. ET at Towers Pool.
