Nov. 7, 2017

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the third consecutive week, Duquesne freshman swimmer Emma Brinton (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) has been named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced today.

Brinton becomes just the second Dukes swimmer to garner Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week accolades three times, joining Katrina Streiner, who won the award three times in 2005.

The Landenburg, Pa. native led Duquesne with two event wins in the Dukes' 168-125 victory over Youngstown State this past weekend at Towers Pool, pacing the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.72) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.26). In addition, she was part of a Duquesne 200-yard medley relay team which finished second in the event with a time of 1:50.26.

Brinton has helped the Dukes to a 7-0 start in dual meet action this season.

Duquesne is back in action on Nov. 17 at the Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio.
