Brinton Earns Fourth A-10 Rookie of the Week Nod

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – For the a school-record fourth time this season, Duquesne freshman Emma Brinton (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday morning.

Brinton helped the Dukes to a second-place finish at the sixth annual Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio over the weekend.

The freshman placed second in both the 100-yard individual medley (58.29) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:02.76) to go with a third-place mark in the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.21).

Duquesne tallied 1315 points across the three-day, 15-team event hosted by Cleveland State.

Brinton and the Dukes return to competition on Jan. 3, 2018 at the Orange Bowl Classic at Jacobs Aquatic Center in Key Largo, Fla. The action gets underway at 10 a.m. ET.
