Swimming Coach David Sheets Announces Seven Signees

Duquesne University swimming coach David Sheets recently announced that Grace Creighton (Geneva, Ill./Rosary), Elizabeth Czachowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills), Kylie Dickman (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter), Kellie Fecarotta (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic), Laura Mathews (Memphis, TN/St. Mary's Episcopal), Claire Nobles (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) and Samantha Ray (Durham, N.C./C.E. Jordan) have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Duquesne in the fall of 2012.

Creighton joins the Dukes as a state qualifier in the 100 butterfly. A holder of USA Swimming Central Zone qualifying times in the 100 and 200 butterfly, she holds right ISI Senior State Championship times.

Czachowski comes to Duquesne as a state qualifier in the 50 free in 2011 and is a three-time WPIAL qualifier. A two-time team captain she was her team's Rookie of the Year in 2009, team MVP in 2010 and High Point winner in 2011.

Dickman is a four-year letter-winner for her three-time high school state championship team. She has received numerous awards for both her high school and club teams.

Fecarotta is a four-year varsity team member and has been elected team captain. She holds the school record in the 100-yard butterfly as well as a couple relays.

Mathews comes to DU as a "Chiquita Champion" from October, 2010 and a Commercial Appeal "Best of the Preps" honoree from April, 2011. A three-year letter-winner, she was on the 200 free relay team that finished third at the state championship.

Nobles is a three-time All-Conference, All-Region and All-State honoree. She holds her school records in the 100 free and 200 free and shares the school records in the 100 and 200 free relays.

Ray joins the Red and Blue as a three-time section and state qualifier and team MVP. She was the conference champion in the 50 free and 100 free as a junior, placing fifth at states in the 100 and seventh in the 50.
