HARMAR, Pa. - The Duquesne women’s tennis team opened up the Spring season with a 5-2 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dukes won the doubles point. Kylie Isaacs and Julianne Herman were 6-2 winners over Imaan Hassim and Sofia Macias at #1. YSU won #2 before Maranda Sears and Laurel Shymansky won at #3 over Lucia Zagar and Ana Stroe 7-5.

In singles, Maddy Adams (6-1, 6-3 over Cassandra Moraleja at #5) and Herman (6-2, 6-4 over Macias) extended the DUQ lead to 3-0. The Penguins got its first point at #3 before Aishwarya Kona’s 7-5, 6-1 win over Stroe at #6 clinched the match for the Dukes. Isaacs also won at #1 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 over Longi Nsimba.

STAT OF THE GAME
The Dukes have won three straight season openers.
