The Duquesne women’s tennis had its first setback of the season on Friday at Buffalo, but rebounded with a decisive win on Sunday against Detroit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Friday started off with a tough loss at Buffalo 5-2. The Dukes opened with match by winning the doubles point. Kylie Isaacs and Julianne Herman took #1 6-3 and Laurel Shymansky and Maranda Sears won at #3 6-4.

Maddy Adams was the lone singles victor, a three set 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 win at #5.

On Sunday, the Dukes rebounded with a 7-0 shutout over Detroit. In doubles, Sears and Shymansky took the first win at the #3 spot 6-4. Isaacs and Herman lost a tough match at #1, 7-6. The point was up to Ally Miller and Adams at #2 as the match headed into a tiebreaker. The Dukes dominated the breaker 8-1 to win the double points.

Duquesne won all of the singles points in straight sets. Isaacs 0 and 1, Herman 3 and 4, Shymansky 7-6, 6-3, Miller 3 and 1, Adams 0 and 1 and Sears 2 and 7-5.

Win the win, the Dukes improve to 7-1 on the season. Their match against Towson on Feb. 24th is their Pink Out match.

Adams and Shymansky finished 3-1 overall and Sears 3-0 this weekend
