Dukes Go 2-1 for the Week Heading Into Spring Break

The women's tennis team improved their overall record to 4-2 this past week, with victories against Akron and Niagara. In a home contest against Akron on Wednesday, the Dukes captured a 6-1 victory, and Friday at Niagara, the Dukes swept their opponent 7-0.
In doubles, freshman Rachel McGowan (Canton, Ohio) and junior Johanna Bezjak (Salisbury, MD) paired up to defeat their Akron opponent 8-5, and triumphed against Niagara as well, 8-3. The pair, in the number two spot, improved their overall spring record to 4-1.
At the number three spot in doubles, sophomore Alex Albano (East Amherst, NY) and junior Andrea Sailer (Tucson, AZ) defeated both their Akron and Niagara opponents as well.
In singles, Bezjak, senior Jacqueline Hughes (McKeesport, PA), sophomore Rebecca Poole (Swindon, Wiltshire, UK), McGowan, and senior Alicia McNamara (North Augusta, SC) won their contests against both Akron and Niagara.
On Sunday, the Dukes were defeated in a contest at Buffalo, 7-0. The Dukes will return to action with away matches in Orlando, Florida on March 5, 6, and 7. The Dukes will compete against Florida Atlantic, James Madison, and Mount St. Mary's.
