Women's Tennis Winning Streak at Four After 5-2 Victory Over West Virginia

MORGANTOWN - The Duquesne women's tennis team won its fourth straight match after a 5-2 victory over Big East rival West Virginia on Wednesday afternoon. The Dukes (7-6) and Mountaineers (3-9) split the first two matches of the double point, but WVU defaulted at #3 doubles giving DUQ the point. Vanessa Steiner won a hard fought match at #1 singles 7-5, 6-4 over Mary Chupa. Emily Mathis played a tough first set against Megan O'Sullivan at #2 singles, but O'Sullivan rolled in the second set 6-0. The Dukes won at #5 and #6 singles by default. At #3 singles, Veronica Cardinas held off Judy Li 7-6 (5), 6-4 and Ikttesh Chahal was a 6-4, 6-4 winnder over Paula Gruber at #4 singles.
Duquesne returns home on Saturday to host Wright State at Alpha Tennis and Fitness in Harmar. Match time is 11:00 a.m.
