Women's Tennis Take Bonnies 5-2

The Duquesne women's tennis team evened its record to 3-3 this Spring with a 5-2 win over St. Bonaventure Friday afternoon at the Oxford Athletic Club. The Dukes won the doubles point and captured second fourth, fifth and sixth singles. Sophomore Jackie Hughes went 2-2 on the day to lead the Red & Blue. She teamed with freshman Andrea Sailer to take an 8-1 win at first doubles and won 6-2, 6-3 at second singles.

Freshman Johanna Bezjak and senior Julie Wagner won 8-4 at second doubles while third doubles (sophomore Ciara McDermott, senior Sarah Shanahan) won by default.

Senior Sarah Shanahan took a 6-0, 6-3 win at fourth singles and sophomore Alicia McNamara swept fifth singles 6-0, 6-0. The Dukes' Ciara McDermott won by default at sixth singles.

Duquesne next faced Rollins on Mar. 23 during its Spring Break trip to Florida. Rollins is ranked #7 in Division II.
