DU's Women's Tennis Tops Toledo 4-3

TOLEDO, OHIO - Duquesne's women's tennis team defeated the host Toledo Rockets, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the Laurel Hill Tennis Club. The Dukes won four singles matches to secure the victory, which raised DU's season record to 4-5. The Rockets fell to 5-8 on the season. The Red and Blue were led by two juniors, Alina Klinova who defeated Viviana Rivero, 6-3, 6-2, in number 1 singles, and Katie Riedinger who defeated Monica Ribero, 7-6, 6-2, in number 3 singles. Sophomore Sarah Shanahan defeated Eva Szuch, 6-2, 6-0, in number 4 singles while senior Leia Zingone, this week's Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, defeated Daniella Moran, 6-2, 6-2, in number 5 singles. Riedinger teamed up with sophomore Julie Wagner to top Moran & Szuch 8-1 for the DU's lone doubles victory. The Dukes return home to Pittsburgh for a match with the Bucknell Bison this Sunday, Mar. 23rd, at 10 a.m.
