Dukes Defeat GW 4-3 in Tennis Action

Results

Duquesne closed out the weekend with a 4-3 win over A-10 member George Washington Sunday morning at Club 4 Life in Monroeville. The Dukes took all three doubles matches and three of the six singles for the win. Rebicca Poole and Jackie Hughes led the Dukes going 2-0.

Hughes and Poole captured an 8-4 first doubles win followed by 8-4 wins at 2nd and 3rd doubles by Johanna Bezjak/Andrea Sailer and Alexandria Albano / Ciara McDermott respectively.

Hughes followed suite wit a 6-2, 7-6 second doubles win while Poole sailed to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at thrid singles. Alicia McNamara won 6-3, 6-3 at fifth singles as well.

Johanna Bezjak suffered a 7-6, 1-6, 2-6 loss at first singles and Alexandria Albano fell 6-1, 3-6, 1-6 at sixth singles. Sailer fell 2-6, 6-2, 2-6 in her fourth singles match.

The Dukes head to Bloomsburg University (PA) for a 4:30 p.m. match on Friday, April 7, 2006.
