Women's Tennis Ends Season With 4-1 Loss to Fordham at A-10 Championship
Alexa Miller was winning at #5 singles 6-2, 5-2 when the match was decided

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Duquesne women's tennis team's season ended late Thursday night after falling 4-1 to Fordham in the opening round of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship. The event was held at The Boar's Head Resort Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va.

The Dukes took a 1-0 lead after winning the double point. After dropping the #3 doubles match, Duquesne's Sarah Shashura and Megan O'Sullivan were 8-4 winners over Fordham's Amy Simidian and Sarah Ali. In the deciding doubles match, Judy Li and Alexa Miller held off Anika Novacek and Bella Genkina by the score of 8-6 to capture the doubles point.

However in singles, it was all Fordham. The Rams won at the #1, #2, #4 and #6 spots. Shashura was leading Angie Dabu 7-5, 3-2 and Alexa Miller was up on Julie Leong 6-2, 5-2 when the match was decided.

Duquesne finishes the season 7-11.
