Women's Tennis Falls to UMass in A-10 Quarterfinals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Duquesne women's tennis team ended its season on Friday afternoon after falling to #1 seed Massachusetts 4-0 in the 2012 Atlantic 10 Championship.
In doubles, UMass jumped out with a win at the #1 spot with Yuliana Motyl and Chantal Swiszcz defeating Megan O'Sullivan and Judy Li 8-2. Tara Majdalani and Chandler Consonery evened the score after winning at the #3 spot over Jessica Podlofsky and Hazuki Onaga by the score of 8-5. In the deciding doubles match, Sonia Bokhari and Chanel Glasper defeated Vanessa Steiner and Paula Gruber 8-3. The Minutewomen won the doubles point, taking a 1-0 lead into the singles matches.
UM won the first three singles matches at the #3, #5 and #6 positions to win the match 4-0. Julia Comas was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Li at #3, Glaspar defeated Gruber 6-3, 6-2 at #5 and Swiszcz was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Majdalani at #6.
The Dukes end their season 13-9.
