W. Tennis Falls 4-0 to #4 UMass at A-10s

Fifth seeded Duquesne suffered a 4-0 loss to fourth-seeded Massachusetts Saturday morning in day two's action of the 2006 Atlantic 10 Championship at Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA. Duquesne will face eighth-seeded Temple tonight around 7:30 pm.

Duquesne lost the doubles point falling 7-3 at first singles as Jackie Hughes and Rebecca Poole lost to Michelle Spiess and Masha Pozar. Johanna Bezjak and Andrea Sailer fell 8-2 at second doubles to Susan Johnson and Dorothy Iwanowicz. Ciara McDermott and Alexandria Albano were down 8-2 in their third doubles match.

Bezjak suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss at first singles to Spiess and Sailer fell 6-3, 6-0 at fourth singles to Iwanowixz. Abby Ball went down 6-2, 6-3 to Jana Bartoloni at sixth singles. Poole was ahead 6-4, 3-2 at third singles and Alicia McNamara trailed 6-4, 2-2 at fifth singles, but neither match was finished as UMass had won by decision.
