Youngstown, Ohio - Duquesne's women's tennis team topped Youngstown State 5-2 Tuesday afternoon at YSU's Tennis Courts. The Dukes won five of six singles matches to clinch the victory.

At No. 2, junior Alina Klinova (Moscow, Russia / W1278) defeated Jenn Meister, 6-0, 6-2; at No. 3 senior, Marina Zelenovic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia / 11th H.S. of Belgrade / Missouri) beat Whitney Thomas, 6-4, 6-4; at No. 4, junior Katie Riedinger (Plum Borough, PA / Plum) defeated Naydia Shah, 6-2, 6-1; at the No. 5 spot, sophomore Sarah Shanahan (Columbus, OH / Bishop Watterson) beat Alyson Finnamore, 6-2, 6-2; and, at No. 6, sophomore Julie Wagner (Erie, PA / General McLane) won by default. The Penguins No. 1 Anne Marino topped DU's redshirt freshman Diana Stein (Powell, Ohio / Village Academy / SMU), 7-5, 6-4, to prevent a sweep of the singles matches.

YSU's doubles teams of Marino / Meister and Shan / Thomas took the first two doubles matches and the Dukes won the thrid by default.

The Dukes (1-0) next head to Toledo, Ohio on Friday, September 20, 2002, for the three-day Toledo Tournament.
