Lewisburg, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis, behind the strong play of three freshman, captured two titles at this weekend's eight-school Bucknell Invitational. Freshman Jackie Hughes (McKeesport, Pa./ McKeesport) won the Flight B singles crown and the doubles team of Alicia McNamara (Vorhees, N.J./ Pendleton School) and Beth Rahauser (Chambersburg, Pa./ Chambersburg)captured the Flight D doubles championship.

Hughes, who beat Marist's Yana Krugly and Pittsburgh's Hayley Hughes on Saturday, topped Bucknell's Rheanna Gaskin in the semifinals before winning a 6-2, 6-0 straight set match over Georgetown's Monisha Ghia.

McDermott and Rahauser won their Invitational title by topping the host Bucknell's Jill Merselis and Kelly Porter 8-2. The frosh passed by Lauren McGraw & Caitlin LaRocco from Loyola (MD), who retired from Saturday's match, before defeating Villanova's Taryn Cappellini / Mal Kokubo by an 8-6 score in their first match on Sunday.

Duquesne was 6-3 in singles and 3-2 in doubles competition on Sunday. In the two day event, the Dukes were 22-12 overall (16-9 singles, 6-3 doubles).

The Dukes, who are 1-0 in their fall 2003 competition, face Robert Morris on Thursday, September 25th at the cross-town rival's court in Moon Township at 3:00 p.m
