DU Women's Tennis Shuts Out Robert Morris, 7-0

Moon Township, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team raised their fall 2003 record to 2-0 with a win Thursday afternoon over Robert Morris at RMU's North Athletic Complex. This was the Colonials season opener. Senior Alina Klinova topped RMU senior Julie Wolf, 6-0, 6-3, in number one singles. Then junior Sarah Shanahan (#4) and freshmen Jackie Hughes (#2), Alicia McNamara (#3)and Beth Rahauser (#5) each recorded love set wins (6-0, 6-0). A fourth freshman, Ciara McDermott, won by default. Robert Morris won just three games in singles and one game in doubles competition. RMU's Wolf was involved in all four games. The Dukes return to action next Thursday when they host Indiana University of Pennslvania (8-0) at 2:30 p.m. at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroeville, Pa.
