DU Stays Unbeaten With 7-0 Win Over St. Francis

Loretto, Pa. - Duquesne University's women's tennis team completed their fall schedule with a 7-0 win over the St. Francis Red Flash Saturday in Loretto, Pa. The Dukes conclude this portion of their season with a 4-0 mark along with singles and doubles flight championships in their one tournament, the Bucknell Invitational. Freshman Jackie Hughes (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport), who took the Flight B title at Bucknell, was a perfect 7-0 in her initial collegiate singles matches. Another frosh Ciara McDermott (Columbus, Ohio / The Wellington School) and junior Sarah Shanahan (Columbus, Ohio / Bishop Watterson) were 8-1 and 7-1 overall, respectively. These two Ohio lassies and another freshman, Beth Rahauser (Chambersburg, Pa./ Chambersburg), were undefeated in doubles competition. The Dukes return to action on Friday, February 6, 2004 when they will host Toledo at 1:00 p.m. at the Oxford Athletic Club in Monroevillle, Pa. RESULTS Singles: Alina Klinova def.
